Environmental Education

Bawden is a hit with the kids. Over 500 visitors passed through our gates last year, and most of them were school children
and youth groups. Our environmental educational program is designed to strengthen children's relationship with the land and
with one another. We emphasize hands-on, exploratory learning on the farm, and we encourage kids and teachers to share their
knowledge, feelings and ideas about our environment. Older children participate in bike tours of the area, hike around our
grounds, and camp on site. This group of Queens College students spent four days working and camping with us this summer.
Younger kids find our farm tours an exciting and complementary addition to their classes in agricultural sciences.

Ecotourism
We have also developed tours, hikes and bike rides appropriate to interested adults from Barbados and abroad. We are currently
hosting Saturday morning visits from guests at the Casuarina Beach Club, a Green Globe Certified hotel on our island's South
Coast. Guests are invited to chat with our cotton spinners and watch them at their work. We take our visitors around the
solar house and farm, and we lead hikes to the natural spring that runs through a coconut grove to the West of Bawden Village.
